Ibanez Edge Trems

Technical Talk - Ibanez Edge Trems

I talk a lot about how the bodies are routed for an original Ibanez Edge, Edge Pro or Edge LoPro. IMO, those are the best trems made. Even better than an Original Floyd Rose (OFR) - again IMO. But they are expensive.

I can do a mod to fit an Edge 3 or Edge Pro 2. That removes some wood. Those trems work, but right they don't stay in tune anywhere near as well as an original Edge. The mod permanently changes the amount of wood in the body.

The easiest way is to look for the "Japan" logo on the block. Here are some pictures to help tell the difference.

An Edge 3 is NOT a trem made in Japan. It does not stay in tune as well.

Notice the Original Ibanez Edge trem has a lot less metal.

Note how the front looks almost the same between and Edge Pro and and Edge Pro 2.

Notice the extra metal on the Edge Pro 2 and the Edge 3.

This seems confusing. It probably is. I only run parts from Japan on my Ibanez guitars.
